Madrid
In Madrid we started the day with a panoramic bus tour of the city and were dropped off near the palace and Cathedral. We only saw the palace exterior this time. At the cathedral we only had about 1o minutes inside but I wish we had more time. It was a really eclectic mix of styles. The exterior was neoclassical but the interior was neogothic.
After our quick trip to the cathedral we got a whirlwind tour of the Prado. El Greco's works were my favorites. I loved his use of light and color.
In the afternoon we got to attend a Lutheran Divine Service but that story will be for a different post.
Paul and I had the evening to ourselves in the major square of the city. We had more Iberian Jamón, Paul had a beer and I had an Americano. Side note about Spanish coffee (and probably all of Europe), they are accustomed to having espresso drinks rather than brewed coffee like we do. So if I wanted a full cup of "black coffee" I needed to order an Americano. It was so tasty that I had several a day! Just a very clean taste. Better than over here.
We had spotted a neat Art Deco building so we went back to investigate. It was a high-end shopping center with a beautiful bar in the middle so we stopped for a couple more drinks and dessert.
